PUC Update 5: PUC Classes & Exams Going Online
Update Posted: March 12, 2020
As you know, our PUC senior leadership team has been meeting regularly and monitoring conditions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. While Napa County still has no confirmed cases reported, we want to take decisive action early enough to keep our students, faculty, and staff safe. Please read the following information carefully and check your PUC email regularly. This is where you will receive all correspondence regarding your final exams, online classes, and updates on campus operations. We will also update puc.edu/coronavirus.
Application to Remain on Campus
Pacific Union College is taking the following steps today:
Tomorrow: All face-to-face instruction on Pacific Union College campus will conclude after tomorrow, Friday, March 13, 2020. Please attend regularly scheduled classes tomorrow.
Exams: Faculty will administer Winter quarter final exams online by following the published PUC final exam schedule. Faculty, please communicate directly with your students regarding how they will complete their final exams online.
Spring Quarter: Pacific Union College will deliver classes remotely (i.e., online) for the first four weeks of Spring Quarter, starting on Monday, March 30th. We are planning for face-to-face classes to resume on April 27th, 2020. Should this change, we will communicate so via email. Starting on Monday, March 16th, events on campus are cancelled until Monday, April 27th. Please note that Alumni Homecoming scheduled for April 17-19 is also cancelled.
At this time, classes will resume on campus on Monday, April 27. If there are any interruptions to this plan, you will be notified by email.
Leaving Campus
To minimize risk, we are asking all students to leave the PUC campus. All students who can return home should plan to do so. Students who cannot return home and need to stay in a residence hall during the spring quarter hiatus should apply to do so by Wednesday, March 18. An application form will be available soon at puc.edu/coronavirus. If you have additional questions, please see your residence hall dean. Students living in off-campus housing can remain in their homes.
For students leaving campus, please take all course materials, textbooks, and other items that will be required for continuing your classes online with you. Textbooks are already available at our college bookstore. Please take with you any other essentials, such as medication, and other valuables that you may need while you are off campus.
Faculty & Staff
Please check your work emails regularly for any updates to campus operations that will affect your working conditions.
