In order of appearance

* While these resources on campus are here to support you in the most confidential setting possible, there are a few areas of exemption in which they must legally make a report for the safety of the individual or the campus community. These exemptions include: 1) mention of immediate harm to self or others, 2) knowledge of likely re-occurring child, elder, or dependent abuse, including access to or possession of child pornography per California law, 3) knowledge of incapacitation or inability to care for self, and 4) if court ordered by a judge to release information.

Off-Campus Confidential Resources

NEWS – As Napa County’s only Domestic Violence & Sexual Abuse Services provider, NEWS provides numerous victim services options for all PUC students and employees. Their services include 24-hour crisis counseling, advocacy and support for reporting intimate partner violence or sexual assault, secure shelter locations for families fleeing abuse, support groups, children services, safety planning, and much more (staff are fluent in English and Spanish). Visit www.napaNEWS.org or call their 24-hour line 707-255-NEWS (6397).

While PUC works closely with NEWS to provide services for survivors, NEWS will never share information with PUC about any students or employees seeking services. NEWS staff are bound by stricter confidentiality requirements than PUC’s on-campus resources, and are only required to break confidentiality if the individual has shown that they are an immediate harm to themselves or others.
