Duties
Reporting to the Chair of the Education Department duties include but are not limited to: provide information about department credential and degree programs via email, phone, in person, and in classroom settings; update department curriculum guide sheets and college catalog copy; advise all candidates about credential requirements; act as admission officer for the department by developing, collecting, and processing applications to the various programs; interview and verify eligibility of candidates; verify completion of all components of credentials; maintain candidate files; notify candidates of their progress through the programs; update candidates’ files quarterly and communicate information with department advisors; process candidates’ formal credential applications and make recommendations to the certification accrediting bodies (CA and SDA); archive candidate files; participate in annual professional development; act as resource for state exam requirements; prepare, distribute, and keep current a wide variety of department-produced materials; prepare and submit a variety of reports to the department, college, CCTC, and SDA entities; manage the Adventist Mission Scholarship for the department; participate in weekly department meetings, work sessions, and various annual events; assist in department activities as assigned by the Chair.
Desirable Qualifications
- Minimum BS degree; Master’s degree in Education preferred
- Knowledge of educational systems and language; teaching credentials and experience in classroom teaching strongly preferred
- Ability to work as a team player
- Strong organizational skills and attention to details
- Solid computer skills in, for instance, Microsoft products; willingness to learn new skills
- Ability to work independently under shifting deadlines and priorities
- Ability to meet deadlines promptly
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Superior telephone and personal communication skills
- Cheerful, competent, self-motivated and helpful manner in dealing with people at all levels from both on and off campus
Compensation
Hourly; Commensurate upon degree and experience (plus denominational benefits based upon experience and qualifications)
