Duties

The successful applicant will be able to conduct college courses for undergraduate students and demonstrate a love of teaching and a desire to help students enjoy learning within the field of Biology.

  • Teaching biology and physiology classes with labs to undergraduate students. 
  • Evaluating and grading student work 
  • Assessing course and major student learning outcomes
  • Maintaining and distributing timely student grade reports
  • Planning and updating course materials and methods of instruction
  • Keeping regular office hours
  • Advising/mentoring students on academic and career-related issues
  • Participating in department activities/events; and
  • Participating in the campus governance structure

Desirable Qualifications

The professor will engage in departmental and college service, work effectively with faculty, staff, and students with diverse backgrounds, participate in student advising, and to be a leader in evidence-based pedagogy for the Department of Biology. Specific teaching needs include undergraduate instruction in upper-level courses such as Systems Physiology and Histology and lower division course in Human Physiology and General Biology.

  • PhD in Biology or Physiology
  • Minimum of one (1) year of undergraduate teaching experience
  • Background in systems physiology
  • Ability to guide students conducting undergraduate research
  • Experience engaging in professional development around the scholarship of teaching and learning

Compensation

Salary; $54,382 - $76,314 (plus denominational benefits, depending upon qualifications and experience.
