Access Services
Pacific Union College is a Seventh-day Adventist learning community offering an excellent Christ-centered education that prepares its students for productive lives of useful human service and uncompromising personal integrity.
Access Services Mission and Philosophy
The Learning Disabilities mission is to provide equal access services that will empower students with disabilities to be successful at Pacific Union College. Our services are designed, whenever possible, to remove the obstacles of learning caused by a disability. And, when they can't be removed, to reduce their limiting effect.
The program also assumes the role of advocate for the needs of students with all types of disabilities. Our goal is to promote awareness of disability rights (and the laws governing equal access) and to foster attitudes of openness and understanding toward people with disabilities.
Acting on the belief that all students should have the right to achieve according to their true ability, we provide support services and help arrange accommodations to minimize the effects of the functional limitations of the disability in the classroom – to create "a level playing field".
